Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 21, 2026
EchoTanakh is designed to minimize collection of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Microphone & voice
Microphone access is used only when you initiate a voice feature. Voice input is used to process the request you make.
AI features
When you use Ask AI or AI-assisted study features, the text needed to answer your request — such as your question and relevant passage or commentary context — may be sent to the configured AI service provider for processing.
Dropbox
Dropbox connection is optional. If you choose to connect it, EchoTanakh uses Dropbox to store and synchronize supported app data in your own Dropbox account. EchoTanakh does not require Dropbox to read the Tanakh.
Sefaria
EchoTanakh retrieves Tanakh text, translations, textual metadata, links, and classical commentary from the Sefaria library and API. Requests necessary to retrieve that material are sent to Sefaria.
Local app data
Supported preferences and app data may be stored on your device so the app can remember your settings and provide its features.
Changes & contact
This policy may be updated as EchoTanakh changes. Questions about this policy can be sent to the support email above.
Text Sources & Credits
EchoTanakh is an independent application. Portions of its Jewish textual library and classical commentary are retrieved through Sefaria and the Sefaria API.
Sefaria
Sefaria provides access to a structured digital library of Jewish texts and their interconnections. EchoTanakh uses that infrastructure to retrieve source text, translations, and classical commentary such as Rashi, Ramban, Ibn Ezra, Sforno, Radak, and other sources when available.
Copyright and reuse terms are attached to individual text versions in Sefaria. Different editions and languages can have different licenses. Public-domain and openly licensed material remains subject to the terms applicable to its specific edition.
JPS translations
EchoTanakh may offer Jewish Publication Society (JPS) translation editions available through Sefaria. JPS names, translations, and editions remain subject to the copyright and licensing terms of their respective editions and rights holders. Inclusion in EchoTanakh does not imply endorsement by JPS.
Classical works
Classical commentators and works displayed by EchoTanakh are identified by source where available. The underlying historical works may be public domain, while a particular transcription, translation, or edition can have separate rights and license terms.
For the license or copyright status of a specific text or translation, consult that text version's information in the Sefaria library.
Third-Party Services
- Sefaria — Jewish texts, translations, metadata, links, and classical commentary.
- Dropbox — optional synchronization of supported user data.
- AI service provider — processes requests when AI-assisted study or Ask AI features are used.
Each third-party service operates under its own terms and privacy practices.
Independent App
EchoTanakh is an independent application. References to Sefaria, JPS, Dropbox, commentators, publishers, or other third parties are for source identification, attribution, interoperability, or description and do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.
